Boarding

Thank you for your interest in boarding your cat at San Francisco Pet Hospital.  Because we are a full service veterinary hospital, you can be confident that your pet will receive the best care possible.  Unfortunately we are unable to board dogs.  Doctors are either on the premises or on-call 24 hours a day.  In addition, our staff is well trained in animal care and in gentle handling.

Accommodations

The boarding facility houses 11 cages.  Some of the cages offer heated flooring.  If you plan on boarding multiple cats at once, we can offer a private room for them to stay in.  When room is available, we will give your pet the largest space possible. Please ask a receptionist for current boarding prices.

Feeding

We provide premium dry and canned foods made by Science Diet for kittens, adult cats, and for our senior friends.  If your pet is on special diet, or if you simply want to keep it on its normal diet, please provide at least enough food for its stay plus an additional day.  Boarding away from home can sometimes be stressful on a pet, so providing its regular diet may help your pet feel more at ease.

Daily Care

All cats are fed twice daily.  Housing is cleaned every morning and is kept clean throughout the day.  Each pet receives fresh bedding (towels or a blanket) every morning and is provided with fresh water and clean litter pans at all times.  We will gladly administer medications or supplements brought from home for an additional fee.

When to Make a Reservation

Holidays, weekends, and school break times usually fill up quickly.  Please reserve your pet’s quarters as soon as possible.  It is not unreasonable to make reservations 2 months in advance for busy holidays.

Requirements for Boarding

For your cat’s protection, all vaccines must be current.  Your pet must be free of internal and external parasites (i.e.-fleas, worms, etc.).  If not, treatment will be given at your expense.

What to Bring

*Medications, if any *Food, if desired (please see “Feeding” above) *We welcome you to bring a favorite toy or blanket, but we cannot be responsible for misplaced or destroyed items. *Upon drop-off, please provide the receptionist with feeding (and medicating) instructions for your pet(s).

Additional Services

You may request that special services be provided while your pet is in our care.  Services include: nail trims, bathing, and anal sac expression.  For your convenience, we can also schedule dental cleanings, spays, neuters, and other surgeries while your pet is boarding with us.  Please ask a receptionist for estimates on these services and special requirements for anesthetic procedures.

Check in and Check out Times

You may check in or pick up your pet anytime between 7am-6 pm M-F.  Please understand that during the first and last hour of our day, we are admitting and transferring hospital patients.  During these times, you may have to wait a few minutes before we can assist you.  Check in and check out are often quick; however, please allow at least 15 minutes for each; we want to make sure we have your instructions right before you leave! Please notice that our hospital is closed on Saturday and Sunday.  While we understand that you do not want to leave your pet any longer than necessary, we are unable to accept drop-off's or discharge pets after hours.  (Our evening and weekend kennel staff are not authorized to accept or relinquish custody of pets.)  Rest assured, your pet gets the same excellent care on the weekends as it does during the week. As always, we do our best to keep your pet as comfortable as possible by treating it as if it were our own.  Every effort is made to give each animal special attention and love. If you have questions, would like a tour of our facilities, or wish to make a reservation, please call us at 415-931-8312.  We look forward to seeing you and your pet!
